My oh my, we have a very adorable albeit dramatic little girl on our hands. I say that in a good way (although there are times I am not a fan of her 'dramatic style').
Let me start out by saying I know exactly who she gets this certain trait from and although I am not proud of it myself.. it is just who we are :-)
I hate, let me repeat, HATE being woke up. In junior high, my mom allowed me to stay up later as long as I woke up on my own for school. I am sure it is because she didn't want to have to wake me up! I had 3 alarms set to get me up. One by my bed, one across the room on the desk and the last one in the bathroom; I would still end up running late since I had no problem falling asleep on the bathroom floor. I am just NOT a morning person. I like doing all my 'to-dos' in the morning (working out, paying bills, chores) but I just want to wake up on my own to do those things.
Miss Hadley seems to have the same morning issues as me. The problem is SHE is the one who is waking everyone up with her loudness, but heaven for bid you actually make her get out of bed. She will lay in her bed and fuss and sometimes go to her door and do the same, but then run back to the bed the second you open the door or try to change her pull-up.
Saturday morning, she woke up at 6:30 and was in a GREAT mood. A "hi mommy, hi daddy, I love you this much (arms outstretched)" type of morning. I picked her up and put her on the counter (near the candy cabinet) and was making coffee when she said "no junior mints for Hadley, no candy for Hadley" with this sweet smile trying to get candy. haha! When I said your right they are not for you right now she just smiled and asked for milk. It was just a good happy morning.
This morning, however, she was fussing at 6 and was not happy. Full on throwing a fit unhappy. We just opened the door and let her do her thing, meanwhile I picked up Crosby who crawled that direction and was just looking in her room and then at us with a wide eyed look like what is wrong with her?! Finally, she came out to the living room and said "hi mommy" and was being sweet and said she was "crying in her room on her pillows" and I asked her why and she just said "yeah" over and over. She went back to her room, tried to change her clothes and had another fit because she couldn't do it herself and then came back out and said "hi" sweetly... Matt and I decided there was an evil twin in the room and we didn't know which one was coming out! She is not a morning person either.. it takes her a little bit to snap out of her foul mood (unless by chance she wakes up happy - which does happen!).
I know it is part of being 2
and it is part of her character. She is dramatic and likes to act and make faces and is very imaginative. She is strong willed and stubborn. At times, these characteristics can be a little overwhelming, but I love that she is like that!! I like that she is fearless at times (not all the time - believe me) and outgoing, adventures, daredevil, dramatic and stubborn. Like all traits too much of one is not so great, but as she is coming into her own personality I am loving it. She is finding her balance, too. It makes discipline a constant thing at times, but she is learning what is expected of her. I am very proud to say that I am complimented on her manners often. She says please and thank you very well. She will let other kids take toys away from her without a fit (except if it's her brother :/) and she will hand toys over if I ask her to and find something else to play with for the time being.
Yesterday, Matt unplugged the battery in her Dora 4wheeler since she kept heading for Crosby on it,
and told her it was not working. Later on, she comes riding past up
LAUGHING like she knew what she did. Matt and I both looked at each
other and just shook our heads. I asked her to show me what she did.. she
got off, unscrewed the seat and took it off, showed me where she plugged
the battery pack in, and then put the seat back on. She is something
else I tell ya!!
I should have always known Hadley would be a little bit hard headed.. there is a history of that on both sides of the family :-) (I mean that lovingly - as I know I am one of those people!!)
Here is exhibit a of her dramatic flare:
She is making faces in the mirror after she asked for some lipstick. Why I have lipstick I don't know - I never wear it!
Matt showed her this youtube clip
http://youtu.be/1oHWvFrpocY that he finds hilarious for some reason and last night she was acting it out. She saw it once and remembered it; was karate chopping and jumping and saying dragon baby. :/ our little actress!
She loves to have her picture taken (lucky for me I love to take them!!) and will pose with just about anything. Here she is caring around 2 pumpkins inside pumpkin buckets. They are not super heavy, but they are not light either. Of course Hadley can do everything on her own.. so she thinks...
