What kind of parent lets their kid chew on dirty germy car keys?!

Hadley doesn't have an ear infection! Ya! She does have a nasty cold and cough with fluid in her ears. They are not infected though so that is great news. Matt surprised me today.. he met us at the doctor's office. I love it when he surprises us!

After the appointment, I went to Chick-fil-a for my last meal before I really try to diet, SERIOUSLY. I was going to go all out and get something bad, but I didn't. I was good and ordered the grilled chicken sandwich on wheat. I figured I have been having enough "last meals" that I better just start now! Hadley and I ventured to the grocery store afterwards so I could get all my healthy food. This is the first time I sat her in the front of the basket and not in her car seat. She loves looking around and observing things so I figured this was a win-win situation. Well, it was not as win-win as I figured :-) She is into touching, chewing, slobbering on everything. I had to push the cart and hold my list out of sight because if she saw it she was trying to eat it and would cry when I took it away. I had to do this with everything I put into the basket. So this leads to the title of this blog.. I am that kind of parent who gave in and let my babbling crying child chew on dirty nasty germy car keys! I am so glad I use to pass so much judgement on parents when I didn't even have a child! I honestly thought I had a few more months before this stage but I guess not! She is into EVERYTHING and she cannot even walk yet.. oh boy!

Really?!
Matt has been working A LOT. In fact a lot in an understatement. He is exhausted, I am exhausted, and Hadley is NOT exhausted! He has been working about 16+ hours a day and every Saturday. I don't know how he does it. I am just trying to get feeling better with this thyroid thing and this past week had been very bad.. like more tired than I was right after having a baby, just not as crazy. Anyways, this has lead to a few mistakes on my behalf. This morning I made my coffee and Hadley's bottle. I usually put cinnamon on my coffee, however this morning I put red pepper flakes. Mmmm. Spicy coffee! On to my next mistake... So for a long story short I dyed my hair back to save time and money. I have a few okay lots of grey hair and when my hair color fades it turns reddish and I cannot pull off reddish hair. I bought what I thought was the normal hair color I use to dye my hair. Friday night I put on the hair dye and after about 5 mins it looked orange.. I thought it was odd. I never remembered it doing that before, but I just left it on. After washing it out it was definitely not the right color. It is kind of an orange brown. Sadly, I don't really care and will wait the 4 weeks before dying it again. My hair is already coming out; I don't need to make it worse. So today when I was at the grocery store I realized my coupon for L'Oreal was going to expire so I bought what I thought was the correct hair color.. nope I bought the exact same one as last week. I am going to THROW it away because if not I foresee this happening again in 4 weeks!

More to come later.. off to take Hadley to the Doctor. Poor baby.. I hope she doesn't have an ear infection, but I am pretty sure she does.

Our other two babies!

Koda and Zoe are a big part of our family and I have yet to do a post on them! Lets just say they make life a little bit more interesting for sure :-)

Here are their stats:

Koda Bear Kannady
Breed: Giant-Baby Labrador
Age: 2 1/2
Weight: 95 lbs
Nicknames: Cocoa, Cocoa Bean, Koda (just saying it with a weird accent), Waggs,Wag-Z, Bubba, and Bubba Bear
Quirks: He is a very lovable lap dog (yep 95 lb lap dog) that sleeps in our bed every night between us. He is afraid of almost everything (I once had to put the Vacuum cleaner next to Stacy so he would leave her alone), hats, blow dryers, fireworks, or if you just look at him weird. However, someone comes to the door.. he lets them know who lives there :-) which I do not discourage at all. When I take a bath I have to lock him out of the bathroom because he thinks I bathe in a giant water bowl for him. I cannot get coffee in the morning without giving him whip cream.. it is what we do - everyday. He is not happy unless he has 3 toys in his mouth. If you want to pet him he immediately thinks it is time to play and brings you a toy 3 toys unless it is bed time. There is no such thing as a indestructible dog toy.. Koda can always prove them wrong. He will go into our bedroom 3 or 4 times and keep coming back out of the room to let you know he is ready for bed and you should come, too. He is very cuddly at night and in the morning and he loves to share a pillow with me. In the middle of the night if you pet him you can hear his tail wagging. He loves ALL other dogs, besides the one that lives in the backyard behind us. He has never chewed up a sock or underwear instead he swallows them whole. Once we threw a toy with a rope and 15 seconds later when he brought it back to us the rope was missing. I believe that was our 3rd time to the emergency vet. The first time he swallowed my underwear the vet tech asked if I wanted them back.. um NO! He thinks you are torturing him if you have to put ear drops in. Kids can crawl all over him; pull all his extremities and he is the happiest pup! I think this is why the neighbor kids knock on our door asking is Koda can come out and play?! He wags with his whole body. His tail is a whip and it hurts when it hits you. He lays like a cricket. He knows lots of commands and my personal favorite is when he will give you ten. He can shut the back door, but almost destroys the blinds every time. He has trained Matt to feed him breakfast at 4:30 a.m. and after he finishes eating (Koda) comes back to bed and lays on Matt's side.

He is the puppy Matt and I had talked about for years. He is quirky and goofy and a HUGE part of the Kannady family. We just love him and he loves us (especially Hadley's sticky hands)!

Zoe Jane Kannady (named after one of my favorite STAIND song)
Breed: Who knows! Some kind of Lab and Border Collie mix-maybe?!?!
Age: approximately 1 1/2
Weight: 52 lbs
Nicknames: ZoZo, Oie, Sweet Zoe Jane, Mini dog
Quirks: Oh my.. she is a very quirky dog! She was petrified of Koda as a puppy, for about a day, and then she became Alpha dog. She bites Koda's heels. If you throw a ball she chases the dog retrieving it and not the toy (this is what leads us to believe she has some kind of cow-dog traits). She sleeps at the foot of our bed on my side or in-between our pillows. She freaks out if you blow in her face, but doesn't mind the blow dryer. She puts on an aggressive front and barks at passing dogs, but at the dog park or the vet you would think we beat her as she automatically cows down. She was rescued from a mud pit in the middle of nowhere. She has the sharpest pointy nails no matter how much we file them. She is Houdini and can get out of anything. Just last week she ate my work cell phone charger while it was plugged into the wall and my phone.. didn’t faze her one bit. She doesn't know that many commands, but will always lay down when you ask her to do something she doesn't understand. She can play very rough with Koda and pin him down. She loves rawhides (what dog doesn't?!) and will take Koda's away from him every time. She is very sweet and wants to be loved on all the time. She will drop whatever contraband item she has if you just look at her (no water bottle spraying necessary- like with Koda).

She is not the dog Matt and I always dreamed about, but she is our bonus puppy! She is fun, sweet, and her and Koda love to be together. She is great with Hadley and is very gentle around her. We are so happy she is ours!

Check out those back legs.. that cannot be comfortable.

He looks like an older dog here.. make me sad to think of him getting old.

He lays like that all the time.
She has such a tiny head for her body.

He puts up with any and everything we do to him.

After observing the last couple of pictures I am not sure why we feed them.. I think they prefer grass.
Where am I supposed to sleep?!

Random Updates

Today, Hadley woke up extra early. After her breakfast I put some Puffs on her highchair tray, to keep her entertained, while I did some work. I think 1 made it into her mouth.. the others dissolved in her warm little hands and I bet you can guess who helped her with the rest:

He sat very pretty and patiently for her to share her puffs with him. Of course she did :-)

Speaking of Koda: I took him to the vet this morning because we were pretty sure he had an ear infection and he does - in both ears. Apparently Labs and babies both are prone to ear infections! They were just doing a general check-up and I was sitting in the chair right by him and he jumped up on me to get into my lap. He is the biggest 95lb baby ever!  They also took him back to express a certain gland that needed expressing.. all I can say is that has to be the worst job ever. Better them than me.

On to my next adventure this morning.. re-shipping the package I sent out Saturday and they ended up shipping to me (see the bottom of this post to see what I am talking about). I took it to the Post Office drop location I mailed it from Saturday and they said they couldn't help me. I had to take it to the Central Cypress office to figure this out. I waited in line and there was 3 workers behind the counter. The whole time I kept thinking please don't let me get the lady on the right.. please. Guess who I got?! Yep, the lady that had been very rude to every single person that had come up to her window. The other 2 workers were laughing and seemed to enjoy life.. her I think she was having a bad day. So I tell her the story of what happened and that since this package should have already made it to its destination by now I need it shipped overnight. I waited to see if she would charge me. I don't know why I wondered if they would charge me of course they will. Then she told me it would be an additional $20 to mail overnight. I said nope not going to pay in fact I believe I am owed a return for the inconvenience and the mistake of the USPS. I was very careful to not say "your fault" and repeatedly said I know it is not "your fault" because I know it is not, but I still think the USPS should take care of their mistake. She had to get a supervisor and then another supervisor and then finally the Post Master General himself. They all said no and I said I would not pay for it.. they told me the label is confusing and my address that is in the top left hand corner looked like the address to ship it to. The other address on there that says ATTN: ... must not mean anything?! I said well if it is confusing why do all my receipt, tracking form, and insurance form all have Brooklyn NY on it? Apparently that means nothing. After he finally agreed to ship it without me paying for it the lady who looked like she was having a bad day kept telling me "now how am I gonna do this? It is coming from my drawer and I ain't paying to ship your package" I said I don't know it must be possible since they said you could do it. Literally 45 minutes later I left with all my documents and them saying it will be there tomorrow morning.. I crossed off the return address and we put an additional BIG label on it with the address on it. Lets hope it actually gets there.

I know it is not a big deal, but when you don't have the time to deal with it then it is just frustrating. Forget floating holidays I should re-name them to crazy or mental days. I foresee one in my future very soon.

Oh and last Saturday was Hadley's 6 month check-up (a month late because she was sick during the last one). She is doing very well. Still has fluid in her ears, but no infection. She also still has her heart murmur. If she still has in 2 months then we will go see a cardiologist. She is 17lbs and 28" long. 50th % for weight and 95% for height. She is long and thin like me (no actually more like her Aunt Stacy!). Saturday after her appointment Stacy and I went to eat at Olive Garden. They put us in the very back of the restaurant. I guess that is what happens when you have a baby :-) It was the first time Hadley sat in one of those wood high chairs. To me I just didn't think she was big enough.. but she is! Is that a milestone?!

My Valentine

So today was not the best day.. it was actually a very frustrating day, BUT as soon as I walked through the door and my sweet Hadley started squirming with excitement for me to hold her IT MADE MY DAY! She was babbling and kissing me and just moving like crazy! I bought her a cute lollipop onesie and a tutu for Valentine's, but I didn't make her wear the tutu 1) I am pretty sure Elsa would have laughed at me and 2) I can only imagine what it would look like at the end of the day. Actually there is a funny store to her outfit: Matt said when he went to pick-up Hadley they took off her Valentine's bib and put another one on so that it wouldn't get dirty (I think that is funny because I don't buy anything that isn't washable or I am afraid to throw away). Then I asked him if she was still in her lollipop onesie and of course he couldn't remember and she was in the backseat facing the other direction so he couldn't see. When I came home she had it on and he said funny thing I went to change her diaper and realized that she have 2 onesies on.. I guess they were trying to protect her other one!

Her are some pictures from this evening:
Happy girl! Check out those front 2 teeth!
Love her! SO SO much!

She is definitly my girl - check out those cheeks!

I love her outfit!

Loves her Koda

I'm not sure, but I think Koda thinks that is a real lollipop

They share toys!

She loves her big brother

Yep.. he thought that was a real lollipop

He does love her so much!

More kisses

So today I was frustrated with my endocrinologist I guess I am use to my OB since I spent so much time under his care through my pregnancy. I like their office, they always kept me in the loop about what was going on and would contact me with lab results, etc. Now, with my thyroid disease I have to go get blood work about every 4 weeks to check my thyroid levels. Since being diagnosed with Hashimoto's 4 months ago it has been a lot of  test and changes in medication to get it right. I know that having Hashimoto's is the best disease to have if you have to have a disease, but it is hard to manage and even out levels. I don't want to blame my weight, tiredness, mood, headaches, dizzeness all on it, but I know that it has a big part of it and it is soooo frustrating. I had blood work on February 2, and today after not hearing from them I called to get the results and found out that my labs indicate my levels are still not right and they are upping the medication. Would have been great to know I don't know like a week ago so I could start taking the new dose. At my last appointment she told me she was surprised I hadn't lost more wieght and seemed shocked when I told her I still didn't feel well. It just frustrated me that they couldn't call me to let me know. AND When they finally called me back after I called them they said they would call in the new perscription to the pharmacy and they didn't even do that. When I went to pick it up at 6 (after the dr office is closed) they said they never recieved a call and althought I am sure I took it out on the pharmacist I believe them after this doctor's office track record.

So then to top it off when I get home I see this sitting on the bar stool:

This is what $22.90 gets you at the USPS office... they shipped my package to me - nice. I rushed Saturday to get to the post office to have this package shipped and today when I walked in and saw it I asked Matt what is this? He said he started signing for a package and realized it looked very familiar and told the lady this was that package WE shipped out Saturday and she oops we must have mailed it to the return address. I can take it back? Matt said no we'll do it since he had already signed for it.  I can only image what would have happen to it now. It is a camera lens that I bought and was returning. I had to buy insurance on it becuase it is expensive and like Matt said to me, who knows she could of taken it.. we already signed for it and just my luck that box would disappear.

I know other people have it worse, but it is MY blog so I will vent! Okay I am done :-) I got to kiss my sweet Hadley a million times tonight so that sure does make everyting better!

Lately

I know I have been bad about posting on the blog lately, but it has just been crazy in the Kannady house! Matt is working like crazy and so am I. I have a ton of great pictures of Hadley and will post them soon! Hadley's 6 month check-up was supposed to be today (I know she is actually 7 months, but she was sick during the well baby check up so they cancelled it) but because the weather was questionable the Dr. office rescheduled it for Saturday morning. I am actually happy about that because I had meetings today and Matt was going to take her. We have gone together for all of them and I was hoping to continue that.. it is easy to get sidetracked with a bouncing baby that we forget to ask some of the questions we have. However, when we are both there it makes it so much easier.

I will post her 7 month stats after our Saturday appointment. I also should be getting my new camera lens so I am sure I will have a million more pictures to post!
