13 Months

Where has the time gone?! I keep saying I will be a better blogger, but that is not happening.

What is Miss Hadley up to theses days? Well, getting into about everything! She is definitely a very active little girl. I remember when I was pregnant with her, I would think she never really moves - maybe that means she will be a calm content baby. HA! Was I wrong or what! I am not sure if I can say she is a walker. I am unclear the definition. I mean she walks between furniture and around the house a little, but her preferred method of transportation is crawling... she is a FAST crawler and when she is walking she tries to speed up and then falls down so she just stays down and keeps on going. I think once she is walking around everywhere I will say she is a walker, but for now she is just taking many many steps! This happened about 2 weeks ago and she gets a little braver each day with walking.

She is a picky eater, and more than that I just don't think she wants to sit still long enough to eat. She rather be on the move. Restaurants are out. We decided this after this weekends outings. We love Girmaldi's in the Woodlands and decided to go for an early dinner Saturday. Lets just say it was a very short un-enjoyable dinner. We tried it again Sunday night at Saltgrass and thankfully my mom was there to whisk her off when she was being loud. She will just scream. I hate it and honestly have no idea how to discipline her for screaming. I know she is probably too young, but when she starts understanding time-outs you better believe screaming will get her there faster than anything. I just don't like it at all! We use to eat out all the time when it was just Matt and I. I mean maybe 4 times a week - A LOT! Lately, it has been more like 4 times a month, but with her shenanigans it will just be Mommy and Daddy date night out - no Hadley!

Today, when I took her to Elsa's I was just chatting with her and she had put Hadley on the couch. I put her on the couch at home, but run up and down it to make sure she does not fall. Elsa stepped away and of course I went and stood by the couch quickly and Elsa looked at me and said she knows how to get on and off on her own. She had me watch her do it and she just laid down wiggled off and then turned over and walked to the other couch like no big deal. Ha.. I guess I am just an overprotective mom. I think I am pretty relaxed about things, but of course this is my first time doing this where Elsa raised 5 children and watched 10 grand children - I am sure she knows a thing or two more about this than me!

Miss Hadley is not a big talker. I thought she was until I went to a friends son's birthday party and hung out with many old high school friends who have kids now (odd still for some reason to me) and this little 11 month old was talking up a storm. Hadley again is just a screamer! She does say Whatdat?, Momma, Dadda, O, but that is the extent of her speaking. She does say other random things, but for the most part she repeats the above over and over.

She is very sweet and cuddly at times. She has a baby doll that she now picks up and rocks and kisses. Then throws. We're working on this! She kisses everything. I think that is my fault. When Koda was a puppy I wanted to teach him to kiss my hand on command. I worked with him so hard as a puppy and now he gives kisses on demand and whenever he wants. I also kiss Hadley a million times a day along with other things - like her ducky and giraffe. Now, she crawls up to these items (anything really) kisses them and then sits backs and looks at me like - look I kissed em!!  She has also started crawling up to our feet and kissing them. Once Matt thought she bit him, but it is just that her tooth hit his foot since her mouth is wide open like a snake about to attack. I realized that I always mess with her feet (sound like a Modern Family episode?) and now she is just doing the same to us.. it is funny, but I am trying to break her of the habit!

She has been sleeping well, but getting up at 6:45 or 7 everyday. She use to sleep till 8 and during the work week I would wake her up and get her ready to go to Elsa's. Her getting up earlier just makes it harder for me to get ready in the morning. Yesterday and today, I am working from home, and didn't set my alarm because I would "sleep in" till 6:45 when she would wake me up.. guess who decided to sleep till 8 and 8:30?! I am not complaining, but I am sure when Saturday rolls around it will be 6:45 again! She is in-between 1 and 2 naps a day. It all depends on what we are doing. Of course the days she takes one really long nap is usually the day I try to clean up or do something productive instead of lay down and rest with her, too. I just never seem to time them right. Ask Matt or my mom how grumpy I am in the mornings and if someone wakes me up from a nap. Getting woke up from a nap is the worst and apparently Hadley feels the same way. Don't ask why I would wake a sleeping baby (cough MATT) but the few times we had to she was a very unhappy camper!!

As for Matt and I, we are exhausted. Let me tell you a funny story. This morning I was on the phone with Matt and told him I got his note and was going to buy him his stamps to mail off the bills. We keep chatting and he said okay I gotta go call this client, etc.. love you bye. Later, he calls and said "did you go buy pants after you dropped Hadley off?" I am just completely dumbfounded by this and said what are you talking about. He was like "you said you were going to go buy pants because you need pants that fit and can't leave the house without pants" Okay so I am starting to think my husband is LOSING IT! I tell him he is crazy and I never said anything about pants. After we hang up and I just cannot figure out where that came from... then I remembered I said I was going to go buy STAMPS. I call him back and said it was stamps not pants and he said yeah I figured that out, but thought I would leave you wondering about it for awhile... jerk!!! I think he was too embarrassed to call and tell me he is going crazy! I mean he must have not listened to a word I said during our conversation. Sadly, I don't blame him though - he is working on about 5 hours a sleep a night and working so hard. I hate it. I hate it for him, I hate it for us, but he is working so hard for our family I can't help but be so proud of him! I was up for a management type position in my company. I told my new boss that I didn't want it (they never offered it officially, but I said I didn't want to be considered anymore) and well turns out it was never really an option. Now, I have more responsibility and I have been working non-stop for a while now and I am not a fan. My coworker who is due on Labor day (fitting huh!) has been working so much and I wish I could take her workload so she had time to wind-down, but we are just so swapped right now. I was hoping to maybe go part-time soon, but that is not going to happen. I pray it changes soon and we both have a little more free time, but for now we are thankful for the jobs, health, and what family time we do have.
