My poor Koda
Mr. Koda Bear is not feeling so hot these days. This started last Thursday when I noticed he was not his usual playful self. Thursday I usually go into the office, but just was not feeling it that day. I stayed home and left about 11 to go get some Chic-fil-a (thanks Stacy for the email about how healthy it is :-)) when I came back he didn't get up to greet me or tried to beg for food. This is not my dog. I had already called Matt that morning and said I think Koda ate something because he was just acting so odd. I called the vet at 11:30 and they scheduled us for a 2:00 visit. After some x-rays they could see something was wrong, but couldn't actually see the object that was probably causing his stomach and intestines to bloat. They were worried about his stomach flipping so they tried sticking a tube down his throat and that didn't help. The only other option was exploratory surgery. He went in at about 3:30 for surgery and at 6ish we got a call from the Vet that were were missing a baby bottle nipple. Oh Koda. The nipple became lodge 3 feet down in his intestines and was a plug blocking anything from passing. He probably ate it the day or 2 before and it finally came to a stop. During surgery he aspirated and fluid went into his lungs. They recommended he go to the emergency vet to be monitored all night since they are not there at night to watch him. Long story short he has been in and out of the vet and emergency vet ever single day since Thursday and he is not getting better. He will not eat or drink and is very lethargic. They are trying another treatment on him at the vet's office and we are hoping and praying this will fix the issue. If not then we will do an ultrasound and see what is going on. Of the many MANY things Koda has consumed it is hard to believe a baby bottle nipple was what got him down. The vet saved it for us and there is not one chew mark on it. He just swallowed it. Matt wanted to keep it as a souvenir. I made him throw it away. With our luck with Koda he would probably eat it again.
Here are the staples in his belly.. all 18 of them. He has 2 more layers of stitches on the inside.

| Baby Kannady #2 Due February 29, 2012 |
It is true... there is another baby kannady on his/her way! It is still unbelievable to me that we will have two babies soon. Hadley and baby k2 will be about 20 months apart. I had always wanted our kids to be close in age, but after having Hadley I thought well maybe when she is two we will start thinking about another baby... :-) We did a better job of not telling people this time around, but those we did tell almost always asked if it was planned. Nosy people :-) JK! Yes, another baby was always in the plans! When, however, was undecided in our minds, but God knows best and we are so grateful for such an amazing blessing.
Although, I have not announced it at work and don't plan on it for awhile, the rumors have already started. I am most definitely showing already, so I have been working from home more and wearing lots of sweaters in this 109 weather.
There are many differences this time around. With Hadley, I had a very uncomplicated early pregnancy. This time, there have been some small issues. I have been on bed rest already, I have had 5 ultrasounds in the first trimester, and have been on progesterone since week 5. Luckily, we have sailed through those small issues and are happy to report a healthy baby!
Last Wednesday I had my 1st trimester screening ultrasound and was measuring 13 weeks exactly, putting me right on my Leap year due date! Although, s/he will most likely not be born on that date, I still think it is interesting to have that due date. I look back at my old post here about how happy Hadley is as an only child right now and wouldn't you know a couple of weeks later we found out that she wouldn't be an only child for much longer!
You know the shirts that say "Proud big Sister or Brother," I was going to get one for Koda, Zoe, and Hadley and post it, but I have not had time to shop for them or make them, but I am sure they are elated!

Walking
She is walking so much more now! Today, she walked from one side of the living room all the way to her bedroom! It is so cute to see her walking around! Just a quick update.

13 Months
Where has the time gone?! I keep saying I will be a better blogger, but that is not happening.
What is Miss Hadley up to theses days? Well, getting into about everything! She is definitely a very active little girl. I remember when I was pregnant with her, I would think she never really moves - maybe that means she will be a calm content baby. HA! Was I wrong or what! I am not sure if I can say she is a walker. I am unclear the definition. I mean she walks between furniture and around the house a little, but her preferred method of transportation is crawling... she is a FAST crawler and when she is walking she tries to speed up and then falls down so she just stays down and keeps on going. I think once she is walking around everywhere I will say she is a walker, but for now she is just taking many many steps! This happened about 2 weeks ago and she gets a little braver each day with walking.
She is a picky eater, and more than that I just don't think she wants to sit still long enough to eat. She rather be on the move. Restaurants are out. We decided this after this weekends outings. We love Girmaldi's in the Woodlands and decided to go for an early dinner Saturday. Lets just say it was a very short un-enjoyable dinner. We tried it again Sunday night at Saltgrass and thankfully my mom was there to whisk her off when she was being loud. She will just scream. I hate it and honestly have no idea how to discipline her for screaming. I know she is probably too young, but when she starts understanding time-outs you better believe screaming will get her there faster than anything. I just don't like it at all! We use to eat out all the time when it was just Matt and I. I mean maybe 4 times a week - A LOT! Lately, it has been more like 4 times a month, but with her shenanigans it will just be Mommy and Daddy date night out - no Hadley!
Today, when I took her to Elsa's I was just chatting with her and she had put Hadley on the couch. I put her on the couch at home, but run up and down it to make sure she does not fall. Elsa stepped away and of course I went and stood by the couch quickly and Elsa looked at me and said she knows how to get on and off on her own. She had me watch her do it and she just laid down wiggled off and then turned over and walked to the other couch like no big deal. Ha.. I guess I am just an overprotective mom. I think I am pretty relaxed about things, but of course this is my first time doing this where Elsa raised 5 children and watched 10 grand children - I am sure she knows a thing or two more about this than me!
Miss Hadley is not a big talker. I thought she was until I went to a friends son's birthday party and hung out with many old high school friends who have kids now (odd still for some reason to me) and this little 11 month old was talking up a storm. Hadley again is just a screamer! She does say Whatdat?, Momma, Dadda, O, but that is the extent of her speaking. She does say other random things, but for the most part she repeats the above over and over.
She is very sweet and cuddly at times. She has a baby doll that she now picks up and rocks and kisses. Then throws. We're working on this! She kisses everything. I think that is my fault. When Koda was a puppy I wanted to teach him to kiss my hand on command. I worked with him so hard as a puppy and now he gives kisses on demand and whenever he wants. I also kiss Hadley a million times a day along with other things - like her ducky and giraffe. Now, she crawls up to these items (anything really) kisses them and then sits backs and looks at me like - look I kissed em!! She has also started crawling up to our feet and kissing them. Once Matt thought she bit him, but it is just that her tooth hit his foot since her mouth is wide open like a snake about to attack. I realized that I always mess with her feet (sound like a Modern Family episode?) and now she is just doing the same to us.. it is funny, but I am trying to break her of the habit!
She has been sleeping well, but getting up at 6:45 or 7 everyday. She use to sleep till 8 and during the work week I would wake her up and get her ready to go to Elsa's. Her getting up earlier just makes it harder for me to get ready in the morning. Yesterday and today, I am working from home, and didn't set my alarm because I would "sleep in" till 6:45 when she would wake me up.. guess who decided to sleep till 8 and 8:30?! I am not complaining, but I am sure when Saturday rolls around it will be 6:45 again! She is in-between 1 and 2 naps a day. It all depends on what we are doing. Of course the days she takes one really long nap is usually the day I try to clean up or do something productive instead of lay down and rest with her, too. I just never seem to time them right. Ask Matt or my mom how grumpy I am in the mornings and if someone wakes me up from a nap. Getting woke up from a nap is the worst and apparently Hadley feels the same way. Don't ask why I would wake a sleeping baby (cough MATT) but the few times we had to she was a very unhappy camper!!
As for Matt and I, we are exhausted. Let me tell you a funny story. This morning I was on the phone with Matt and told him I got his note and was going to buy him his stamps to mail off the bills. We keep chatting and he said okay I gotta go call this client, etc.. love you bye. Later, he calls and said "did you go buy pants after you dropped Hadley off?" I am just completely dumbfounded by this and said what are you talking about. He was like "you said you were going to go buy pants because you need pants that fit and can't leave the house without pants" Okay so I am starting to think my husband is LOSING IT! I tell him he is crazy and I never said anything about pants. After we hang up and I just cannot figure out where that came from... then I remembered I said I was going to go buy STAMPS. I call him back and said it was stamps not pants and he said yeah I figured that out, but thought I would leave you wondering about it for awhile... jerk!!! I think he was too embarrassed to call and tell me he is going crazy! I mean he must have not listened to a word I said during our conversation. Sadly, I don't blame him though - he is working on about 5 hours a sleep a night and working so hard. I hate it. I hate it for him, I hate it for us, but he is working so hard for our family I can't help but be so proud of him! I was up for a management type position in my company. I told my new boss that I didn't want it (they never offered it officially, but I said I didn't want to be considered anymore) and well turns out it was never really an option. Now, I have more responsibility and I have been working non-stop for a while now and I am not a fan. My coworker who is due on Labor day (fitting huh!) has been working so much and I wish I could take her workload so she had time to wind-down, but we are just so swapped right now. I was hoping to maybe go part-time soon, but that is not going to happen. I pray it changes soon and we both have a little more free time, but for now we are thankful for the jobs, health, and what family time we do have.

My baby is ONE!
I cannot believe that my little baby is 1! Well I guess she is not a little baby anymore. She is growing up to be a beautiful, opinionated and loving little girl. We were very blessed to have so many friends and family that have helped us through the first year of her life. This past week I have had some health issues that have put me on limited activity, but honestly how could I rest when it came to my baby's birthday?!?!
Her birthday party would have not happened if it were not for my amazing mom. She shopped, created, baked, cleaned, cooked, decorated, etc and made her birthday happen! I am so thankful for my mom. She is in the middle of a couple of clients houses' and stopped all that for Hadley. Thank you mom! Also, Victoria and her mom (and Maddox) came over to help get the house ready, baked, decorated and entertained me! Thank you! It means so much to me for all the help during this time. Oh and Stacy.. poor Stacy! She came over on the worst day! It was actually Hadley's Birthday and Stacy came over and went grocery shopping, but the worst part is we had to take her to her 1 year appointment. Stacy had to witness this awful appointment. I'm just glad it is all over.
At 1 years old, Hadley is still in the 99% for height, 67% for weight and 22% for head circumference. Those percentiles have been about the same for the last few appointments. She is into giving kisses, pointing, looking at pictures, and looking out the window. She is all over the place, but not walking yet. At her doctor appointment, I told the doctor what she has been doing lately and she said she is just going through some terrible two's at one. She is very strong-willed (no idea where that came from :-)), independent at times and then very needy at times. The one thing she has started doing that I am not a big BIG fan of is screaming. She will crawl around and scream. She is not upset, she doesn't want anything... she just screams!
On to the fun stuff - her birthday party! It was a great party with tons of friends and family! There were about 50 people in our little house! She has a new wardrobe, tons of new toys and motorized/non-motorized vehicles. We are so very thankful for all the gifts and everyone coming out to celebrate. Victoria took pictures and I managed to snap a few as well. You can see the ones I took here:

Paris and back in 72 hours
I'm back! I spent the last 3 days traveling to Paris, attending a meeting and back to Houston. It was a very jam-packed few days. By the time I arrived in Houston, I had already been awake for 16 hours but there is no way I could rest and not spend time with my family. It was a long 24 hours but so WORTH IT!
Last time I went to Paris Hadley was with me :-) well she was only 16 weeks gestation, but still I was not completely alone!
This trip I didn't have much time to do the tourist thing and it thunderstormed making getting around a bit harder. I tried to go shopping at the Galeries Lafayette, but they are closed on Sunday. I was going to splurge a little and get Hadley something very stylish from Paris... I ended up at Baby Gap and bought her a cute french inspired shirt. Ha! I think I could probably order it online here, but that was all that was open besides ridiculous tourist shops with expensive junk. Paris was good, but I am so glad to be home! I missed my family very much.
Today, Hadley is 11 months! Here are a few of her favorite things to do:
- point
- clap
- wave
- talk (gibberish)
- say "oh" a lot
- get really excited, pant and kick her legs
- get into everything and then when you say no look and smile at you!
- teeth! she loves to grab your teeth
I took some pictures last night and to my surprise I found a few Matt took while I was gone. Lets just say that there is a legitimate reason he is not in charge of dressing her.
I give him some credit for matching the bib to the shorts. And I know it was over 100 outside and they had been out riding in the golf cart.. so I am hoping that has something to do with the outfit choice. ;-)
Here are some 11 month pictures:
At 11 months, Hadley is doing great. She loves playing by herself as well as with us (Matt keeps saying how sad it is that Hadley plays by herself and that she needs a brother or sister.. oh boy!) I think from the pictures below you will see she is perfectly fine having her daddy all to herself!

Another Wordless Wednesday
So much to do this week so I will just update with pictures! Pictures are the best part anyway :-)
She is into EVERYTHING these days! She is so much fun. Every stage is fun, but I just can't stop smiling and laughing around her. We are in disbelief that she will be one in 38 days. This year has flown by.
This is her new favorite spot in the house.
No one will mess with our house with these scary guards on watch
The pictures below are the result of me asking Hadley to smile:
Matt kept saying she was repairing her "car" and we will probably get a big bill!
Koda doesn't look so hot in that picture.. promise he is ok! Also, that is not her outfit for the day.. that was her jogging stroller outfit. Pants are just too hot!!
She is slightly narcissistic :-) I have a video of her talking to the picture of herself and then kissing it! She is also into everything as you can tell by the pictures.
She is a very good helper in the kitchen!
